What thickness shrink wrap should I use for my project?

The details of the job will determine what thickness for your shrink wrap is best. Shrink wraps range from 6 to 12 mil thickness, with 6 being the thinnest/lightest and 12 the thickest/most durable. An especially important detail to consider when shrink wrapping industrial equipment.

If your item needs to be wrapped for storage but not transport, 6 mil is recommended. 7-9 mil is a better bet for larger containments and transportation needs, because that shrink wrap is a bit more durable than its thinner counterpart. 10 mil shrink wrap is best suited for larger areas that need to be covered, like scaffolding or yachts.
